Nokia, once a dominant force in the Indian industry, started losing ground around 2012, affected by its sluggish reaction to emerging trends such as dual SIM and smartphones with touchscreens.
This was also the moment that domestic companies like Micromax and those like Samsung started to cut into the market share of Nokia, leaving it at the end of 2012 with less than 10% share.
Ajay Mehta has been looking after the indian market since the moment HMD began operations in india . in his position as the country head for Nokia Mobiles from December 2016 to June 2019, he spearheaded the launch of Nokia’s Android smartphones and developed HMD Global’s business in India.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported me in my journey with the Nokia brand. At HMD, somewhere between choosing the colour of carpets to recruiting the best team, I realized that my passion lies in entrepreneurship, which has been instrumental in my decision,” Ajay Mehta said.
“This, coupled with strong connectivity through 5G, provides an opportunity to build innovative solutions in Healthcare services. My first venture as an entrepreneur will be in the Healthcare IoT space,” Ajay Mehta said this line.
