The rollout of OxygenOS 220.127.116.11 was halted by OnePlus as some significant problems occurred after its release on Saturday.
The update to OxygenOS was planned for OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro and was expected to add the Android protection patch along with other new functionality to the phones in October 2020.
This was unlike other Samsung phones that have the November protection fix already. OnePlus, however, has now completely halted the OxygenOS upgrade, without giving any clear information about its resumption, after users protested, among other problems, about the wiping of their phone records. A month after OnePlus unveiled Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 for OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro, OxygenOS 18.104.22.168 debuted.
OnePlus community consultant told users about the halt of the OxygenOS 22.214.171.124 rollout. “The rollout of this upgrade is currently paused as certain customer complaints are being reviewed by the software team. Thank you for your comprehension,’ said the consultant.
However, recognised the data wipe problem in a forum post and advised users, whether they are on an open beta, not to instal the OxygenOS 126.96.36.199 upgrade. Before starting the upgrade process , the company also advises that users backup their files. However, for the impacted users who lose their data due to the issue caused by the new update, OnePlus has not offered any workaround.
Few customer reports on the company’s community forums also show that on OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro, the OxygenOS 188.8.131.52 upgrade deactivated VoLTE and VoWi-Fi and affected Web streaming experiences.
Additionally, some users who were still running an open beta of OxygenOS complained that they mistakenly downloaded the 184.108.40.206 OxygenOS as a secure upgrade that resulted in a complete data wipe on their tablets.
The OxygenOS 220.127.116.11 was meant to offer a better experience with improved frame consistency and adaptive brightness algorithms, as per the official update log. With an optimised context process management mechanism, the upgrade also aimed to improve standby efficiency.
In addition, it provided a Canvas function to draw a wireframe image on your phone based on the lock screen picture.
